# Gong

Conversation intelligence integration that pushes Demodesk meeting recordings and transcripts to Gong for unified analytics, while combining real-time coaching data with Gong's post-call analysis.

## When to Use This Connection

Use this connection when the user:
- Wants Demodesk meeting recordings and transcripts sent to Gong automatically
- Needs a unified analytics view combining Demodesk real-time coaching with Gong post-call analysis
- Wants deal risk signals from Gong enriched with Demodesk meeting context
- Needs cross-platform coaching scorecards that merge metrics from both tools
- Wants to configure which meeting types and recordings sync to Gong

## What This Connection Does

Guide the user to Settings > Integrations > Gong in Demodesk at `https://demodesk.com/manage/settings/integrations/gong`. Click "Connect Gong" and authenticate with a Gong admin account. Gong requires Technical Admin or Admin role permissions to grant API access. The integration uses Gong's REST API with OAuth 2.0 — Demodesk requests scopes for uploading calls, accessing analytics, and reading deal data.

After authentication, configure the integration:

**Recording and Transcript Push**: In the "Sync Settings" tab, configure which Demodesk meetings are pushed to Gong. Options include:
- **All external meetings**: Every meeting with external attendees is sent to Gong.
- **Meetings matching a filter**: Only meetings with specific keywords, types, or attendee domains.
- **Manual selection**: Reps choose which meetings to send to Gong from the meeting library.

When a meeting syncs, Demodesk uploads the audio recording and full transcript (with speaker labels and timestamps) to Gong via its API. Gong then processes the recording through its own conversation intelligence engine, generating Gong-native analytics: talk patterns, topic tracking, question analysis, and deal insights.

**Unified Analytics Dashboard**: After syncing, meetings are available in both Demodesk and Gong dashboards. Demodesk provides real-time coaching metrics (coaching sidebar usage, real-time suggestions accepted/ignored), while Gong provides retrospective analysis (deal risk signals, win/loss patterns, topic trends over time). The "Unified Dashboard" tab in Demodesk aggregates key metrics from both platforms in a single view.

**Deal Risk Signal Enrichment**: Gong generates deal risk signals based on conversation patterns (e.g., "competitor mentioned in last 3 calls," "no next steps confirmed," "champion went silent"). Demodesk enriches these signals with its own meeting context: real-time coaching scores, meeting preparation quality, and follow-up timeliness. The combined signals appear in both Demodesk's pipeline views and Gong's deal boards.

**Cross-Platform Coaching Scorecards**: Managers see a merged coaching scorecard for each rep that combines: Demodesk's real-time coaching metrics (talk-to-listen ratio, objection handling quality, coaching suggestion adoption rate) with Gong's retrospective metrics (question rate, topic coverage, patience score). Configure which metrics appear in "Coaching Settings."

**Topic and Keyword Tracking**: Keywords and topics tracked in Gong (competitor names, pricing mentions, feature requests) are applied to Demodesk-sourced recordings the same way they are applied to Gong-native recordings. No additional keyword configuration is needed on the Demodesk side — Gong's existing tracker library applies automatically.

Anti-Pattern: "Duplicate Recording Uploads"
If meetings are already being captured natively by Gong (via Gong's own bot joining the call), pushing Demodesk recordings creates duplicate entries in Gong. Before enabling sync, decide which platform captures the recording. Use Demodesk recording push only for meetings where Gong's bot is not present (e.g., meetings hosted on Demodesk's own video platform).

Anti-Pattern: "Ignore Metric Conflicts Between Platforms"
Gong and Demodesk may calculate certain metrics differently (e.g., talk-to-listen ratio algorithms, engagement scoring). When reviewing unified scorecards, be aware that slight discrepancies between platforms are expected. Choose one platform as the source of truth for each specific metric rather than averaging conflicting values.

## Data Sync

| Entity | Direction | Details |
|--------|-----------|---------|
| Meeting Recordings | → Demodesk to Gong | Audio recordings uploaded via Gong API for processing |
| Transcripts | → Demodesk to Gong | Full transcripts with speaker labels and timestamps |
| Conversation Analytics | ← Gong to Demodesk | Gong-generated analytics surfaced in Demodesk unified dashboard |
| Deal Signals | ↔ Bi-directional | Gong risk signals enriched with Demodesk meeting context |
| Coaching Scores | ↔ Bi-directional | Merged scorecards combining both platforms' coaching metrics |

Recording push is one-way from Demodesk to Gong. Analytics and signals flow bi-directionally for unified views.
